December Training Session in Durban (CHPC National meeting)

Overview and agenda

The tutorial is the fourth in a series of workshops organised for South Africans in order to encourage uptake of usage and exploitation of grid computing. We have run so far three site administration sessions, and this will be the second user-focussed training session. We will also be running a demo of the grid services and the network performance during the workshop. Please see DecemberGridDemo for details.

Agenda

The agenda will cover basic user training, and some slightly more advanced concepts. The users will be taught about the command-line interaction with grid services, but not the actual gLite APIs. This will allow them to come with a functional application and, using some scripting, intregrate it into the grid. They will also be given a "toy" application to write and integrate, if they do not have a specific application.

Venue

The workshop is held in conjunction with the annual Centre for High-Performance Computing conference. This year, the venue is the Westville Campus of the University of kwaZulu Natal. The workshop itself is held in a computer laboratory in the university (Green Lab).
