The SWIFT "programming language"

SWIFT is a workflow "programming language" for describing job submission and dependencies on the grid. It is capable of submitting jobs to several kinds of resources, such as local resource managers (LRMs), the Globus execution environment, CONDOR, etc. This topic details the work done by BenClifford? on testing the functioanlity of submitting SWIFT workflows to the gLite WMS.

SWIFT and gLite WMS on virt.sagrid.ac.za

The environment in which most of this testing was taken place was the virtual grid at the University of Free State, referred to as virt.sagrid. This environment provided virtualised central services, as well as trivial compute resources.

Initial impressions of SWIFT on WMS

The first report of work done by BenClifford? on how well SWIFT works when submitting to a gLite WMS can be found at SwiftAndGliteWMS1. The initial results essentially are inconclusive since the environment in which the testing was done was not robust enough to be able to really test the limits of SWIFT.
