This is the topic documenting the central services installation at UCT
Previously, on UCT-CERN
The central services for SAGrid were historically hosted in the UCT-CERN Research Centre, in the Department of Physics. These encountered persistent technical problems due to colocation of services on the two machines made available for them. The installation of the BDII and the WMS-LB on the same machine created conflicts which were never resolved. The solution to the problem was to re-install the machines with the services separated.
Redeployment of Central Services to UCT-ICTS
With the new IT director of UCT, we have the opportunity to consolidate efforts at the site around grid computing. The proposal to move the central services to a hosted environment with infrastructure provided by ICTS and machines provided by UCT-CERN has been accepted by both parties and is currently being implemented. In the meantime, some central services (noteable LFC) have been moved to the pre-production environment at UFS (virt.sagrid). Only the WMS-LB and top BDII will be hosted at UCT for now.
Installation of Central Services at UCT
This will document the progress of the central services installation at UCT-CERN. Reference is made to the "standard" installation at virt.sagrid
Repository configurations
There were timeouts when using the CNAF repositories directly, so we fall back to using the mirrored repositories on LEG. Note that there are no OS updates on the LEG or mirror.ac.za servers, so we had to fall back to using the OS updates from CERN.
The following repositories have been used :

| DAG |
