Article outline
The article was the first published article on SAGrid. Being submitted to the IST Africa conference, it had to follow a certain schema. First, the outline of the current situation in Africa with regard to ICT access was given. Then the objectives of the SAGrid project and a discussion around the methodology adopted to develop the project itself as well as user communities was presented. A discussion around the technology used, divided into software and hardware technologies is given, followed by an overview of
SANReN? . Further developments such as the SA CA, JRU, integration projects and dissemination and training activities are covered. An attempt is made at making a case for potential business benefits and finally some conclusions and suggestions for further work are given.
